Another milestone in the rapidly changing shape of Napier's inner-city buildings was reached last night with a roof shout in a new commercial block developed on the site sold by the Napier Cosmopolitan Club last year.

The three-storey building is a project of Wallace Development Co and Gemco Construction across Albion Lane, between Hastings St and Marine Parade.

Real-estate firms Colliers Tremains, The Property Group, and RCR Energy, an Australian company which has a base in Hastings, have all been named as expected occupants in November.

Developers' managing director Jonathon Wallace said negotiations were continuing with another potential tenant with the hope of having the building fully occupied.

The block has been built from the barest remnants of a building which started life as the Leopard Inn in the 1970s.
