After several years of having no formalised Christmas festival, Napier City Business Inc in conjunction with Creative Napier, Napier Inner City Churches and Napier Rotary, are bringing an afternoon of Christmas celebrations to the people of Hawke's Bay.
Following public demand for the return of the parade, the rejigged family-focusedSanta's Workshop-themed Christmas costume parade will take place from 2pm on Saturday, December 6, beginning at the Sound Shell and making its way down Emerson St, to conclude at Clive Square.
Organisers say with prize money in the hundreds for the three age group categories (0-6 years, 7-12 years and 12+ years), along with the group (4+ people) category, it is a great opportunity for schools, friends, families and community groups to dress up and celebrate the festive spirit.
Entrants can expect to be joined in the parade by the Napier Boys' Funk Band, stilt walkers, local mascots and others.

Once the parade has arrived at Clive Square, it will be welcomed by a carnival type atmosphere with an inflatable slide, Christmas food and craft stalls, a live concert, activities for the kids, face-painting, a sausage sizzle, free rides on the Hawke's Bay Express, and children will even have the opportunity to have a photo with Father Christmas in his grotto.
