Napier’s latest Lotto millionaire celebrates with a cup of noodles

A Napier man who became an overnight millionaire in last Saturday’s Lotto draw said he plans to splash some cash on his family, and his pets.

The man, who wished to stay anonymous, usually waits to check his tickets so he can keep dreaming about the ‘big one’ as long as possible but decided instead to check his ticket late on the night of the draw.

“When it came up ‘major prize’ I was pretty excited but had to wait until morning to get to the supermarket to find out how much I’d won,” he said.

“I was thinking a thousand dollars would be alright, and I couldn’t believe it when the zeros kept coming!”

I went home and said to my dogs ‘I can’t believe it’s us guys!’”

“This is a once in a lifetime opportunity, and I’m going to make it work for me and my family in the long term – including the dogs!”

Trying to stay cool after his win, the man celebrated with a humble cup of noodles.

“But those noodles tasted so much better than usual!”

The winning Lotto First Division ticket was sold at Greenmeadows New World in Napier.
