A Napier hotel has been ranked fifth nationally by a popular travel website.
The Crown Hotel was ranked the top rated hotel Napier and fifth place nationally by travel website Wotif.com after it analysed more than 180,000 customer reviews.
The Crown Hotel general manager Michele Cole said she was extremelyproud of the rankings.
"To be number five in New Zealand is obviously a great achievement, particularly coming from a small hotel up against some of the largest and more recognised hotels."
The reason behind the accolades was the hotel's staff of 23, Ms Cole said. They were rapt with the news and their personalised and genuine service attracted loyal customers.
Wotif Australia and New Zealand product director Donna Rodios said some of the most popular descriptive words used in relation to the Crown Hotel were "perfect location", "pristine" and "outstanding service", which is tribute to the hotel's great location and professional service.
Second place in the top four reviewed hotels and apartments in Napier went to Quest Napier, followed by The County Hotel and Art Deco Masonic Hotel in third and fourth place respectively.
Top in the country was the Millbrook Resort in Queenstown.
