Police have arrested a third man after the death of Boy Taylor in Napier’s CBD.
A 19-year-old is set to appear in court tomorrow, charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
It comes after police arrested two suspects, aged 21 and 33, last week. They both appeared in court today.
A third arrest has been made after the death of Napier man Boy Taylor in the town’s CBD last week.
A police spokesperson this evening said a 19-year-old man was taken into custody and is expected to appear in the Hastings District Courttomorrow charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
“The investigation is ongoing, and police cannot rule out further arrests and charges.”
It comes after police arrested two men, aged 21 and 33, who were jointly charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. They were due to appear in the Hastings District Court today.
Boy Taylor, a street-dweller who died in Napier's Emerson St shopping precinct early on Wednesday, had injuries consistent with an assault.
This week Detective Inspector David De Lange De Lange said a post-mortem examination had been completed, confirming 58-year-old Taylor, whose family are from Tangoio, north of Napier, suffered injuries consistent with assault.
Taylor was found about 3.15am on Wednesday on the paving a metre or two from a recess between Pascoes the Jewellers and One NZ in Emerson St, near the intersection with Hastings St.
Police said attempts were made to resuscitate him, but he died at the scene.
