A person has died and two others were injured following a crash in Hastings on Monday evening.
Police were called to the two-vehicle crash on Maraekakaho Rd, Camberley, at 7.20pm.
One person died at the scene, and two other people were transported to Hawke’s Bay Hospital in a serious condition.
A Te Whatu Ora – Health New Zealand, Hawke’s Bay spokeswoman said two men, both aged early 20s, were brought to the Emergency Department last night following the crash, but had since been discharged.
A nearby resident, who wished to remain unnamed, said they heard the crash and saw someone being tended to in one of the vehicles.
The resident said conditions were dark and foggy at the time of the incident.
A Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesperson said they helped get one trapped person out of a vehicle.
The road between Kaiapo Rd and Lowe St was closed for several hours after the crash, with police leaving the scene at 12.41am according to a spokesman.
