Mohaka shooting: Father charged with murder

A 62-year-old Mohaka man has been charged with murder after the fatal shooting of a 43-year-old man at a rural property in Mohaka, near Wairoa, yesterday.

He is due to appear before Gisborne District Court today.

Police are carrying out a scene examination at the site of the shooting, which happened just before 11am yesterday.

A post-mortem examination is to be done tomorrow.

As the matter is now before the courts, police said they won't be making any further comment.
