Man critically injured after being assaulted outside Napier nightclub

A man is in hospital after being critically injured in an early morning assault outside a Napier nightclub.

Police were called to West Quay in Ahuriri at around 1am today, where the 46-year-old was found unresponsive on the ground.

Detective Sergeant Ryan Kemsley said he was taken to Hawke’s Bay Hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.

“Police have arrested a 21-year-old man and he is assisting with our investigation,” Kemsley said.

“No charges have been laid at this stage.”

Police are keen to speak to witnesses or anyone who has knowledge of the incident, including any CCTV or video footage.
