Charges have been laid following an incident involving a firearm on McGrath St this afternoon.
A police spokeswoman said a member of the public alerted police to an incident saying they had heard a "bang" just before 3pm.
Police have confirmed a firearm was presented and the victim received medical
treatment in hospital. A HBDHB spokeswoman said he was in a stable condition.
Police can confirm that the injuries received by the victim, were not as a result of a firearm being used as previously reported.
Three people have been charged with injuring with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
