One lucky Lotto player will be celebrating after winning $1million with Lotto First Division
in Saturday night's Lotto draw.

The winning ticket was sold at Andrew Spence Pharmacy in Onekawa, Napier, a store that has paid out Lotto prizes worth a total of $42m.

Pharmacy owner Andrew Spence said the pharmacy he's owned for 21 years, had "quite" a long, proud, history of selling winning tickets.

"Selling last night's winning ticket just adds to our legacy."

He said the $1m would be great for the winner, being two weeks out from Christmas.

"I hope they have the best Christmas ever."

He said they had a reputation for being a lucky store, among Lotto players.

"We have a lucky spot within our store and people from Havelock North, Bayview, and other places specifically come to our store to buy a ticket from us."

Back in 2005, the pharmacy sold a winning $12m ticket.

"We have sold tickets to a total of 12 first division winners, including last night, 70 second division winners and 3 Powerball winners."

He said Lotto had been "kind to Napier".

"Lady luck is smiling down on us."

Lotto First Division will be $1m on Wednesday.

All of Aotearoa New Zealand is now in the Covid-19 Protection Framework - otherwise known as the traffic light settings.

Lotto NZ counters can open at all traffic light settings providing retailers comply with health and safety guidelines set out by the Ministry of Health.

The live Lotto draws are unable to take place while Auckland is in Red under the traffic light settings.

Lotto will continue using computer-generated draws under Audit New Zealand scrutiny for Lotto, Powerball, and Strike while Auckland is in Red. For more information, see https://mylotto.co.nz/covid-19.
