Survey forms had been published in community newspapers but an on-line form is available, and to encourage people to use it those who send their answers in by 1pm today go into a draw to win emergency-themed prizes, including the installation of a 200-litre emergency water tank, an emergency "get ready" kit and a grab-and-go bag.
Once the sirens begin people are advised to tune to a regional radio station, as they should in the event of a real emergency.
The council holds two siren tests each year, which coincide around the approach of daylight saving, which begins on Sunday.
The next test will be when daylight saving is removed next April.
