We make a big thing of the cruise ships, and the airport is looking pretty good, that just leaves a lack of decent facilities for those who need to travel by coach.
Isn't it time to settle all the hash and make a decision on this?

Landmark tree
In November, 1999, I was asked to assist in searching out gardens of interest to be included in the "Tussie Mussie trail" being organised by a committee headed by Sue Calcinai. It was a planned as part of a fund-raising exercise for Taradale High School.
Among the many gardens I visited was a property on Mission Rd.
The owners were Liz and George Curry. On the property was a very handsome evergreen tree which was thought to be about 80 years old. It was a kurrajong tree.
The adjacent property was owned by Lorraine and Des Stephens. The story told to me was that the home in which the Stephens lived was the original homestead and the kurrajong was likely to have been the point at which the horses and gigs turned in off the road (probably Wharerangei Rd) on to the property, making their way up to the main entrance of the homestead for the passengers to alight.
I do not know if the people named still live on those two properties, but the Curry family had intended to keep the tree as a focal point in their garden.
This information is recorded on pages 10 and 11 in the Garden Profile Book commemorative copy which was written at the time

Double standards
Strangely enough, blowing up innocent civilians in crowded markets is OK but urinating on dead proven terrorists is frowned on?
