Birds migrate so let nature take course

So the Conservation Dept is doing its usual busy-bodying, at considerable expense to the tax-payers, of course.

This time, no effort is being spared to move certain bird species, such as kaka and kakariki, and to lure others, such as petrel, to a small "haven" on a Hawke's Bay hill.

No mention has been made of why the birds chose to move away from this area, but, by God, we're gonna bring 'em back!!

There was a time when people let nature take its course, at no cost to the taxpayers.

Leo Leitch, Napier

Bennett Class

I am trying to contact as many members of the RF Cadet Bennett Class, who joined in 1963, and served at least a year in the RF Cadets, before being posted to the corps of their choice. There were 120 in our intake.

A 50-year reunion is to be held at Palmerston North over the weekend of February 9-10, 2013.
