Celebrate schools' differences

Does anyone out there realise that the National Party neglected to inform their voters last time around that they intended to remove the Kiwi right to choose their children's education?

If they did, it must have been in very small fine print because the current attempt to forcibly homogenise the nation's schools is doing exactly that and I can't imagine there are that many National voting eejits in New Zealand, just short-sighted ones.

My kids' school produces science award winners, Olympic gold champions, designers, statisticians, artists, writers ...

My kids' school produces students ahead of the national average in reading and writing and produces Year 12 graduates at first-year university level.

My kids' school is being told by Anne Tolley to lose its point of difference to the state education or lose its integration. No discussion.

Has everyone gone mad? The ministry is not going to help struggling schools in South Auckland by penalising the Rudolf Steiner School in Hastings.

The National Standards are an aberration from common sense, democracy, decency and from what it means to be human.

Please, someone, get through to Tolley that the children of New Zealand are not robots and the children of Rudolf Steiner parents do not need these disastrous National Standards.
