Successfully launched online earlier this year, Napier-based food company Komida has opted to go the traditional business route by opening a shop.
Selling pre-prepared meals online, Komida was primarily aimed at the fitness market.
Co-owner Eduardo Perez said customers kept asking when there was going to be a shop and, with the business growing well, it was decided to expand both the menu and sales strategy by opening on Napier's Marine Parade opposite the Napier Information Centre.
Now exposed to the urban lunch market, the online service continues.
The Ecuador-born bodybuilder said its meals were perfect for the health conscious who were time-challenged. "Everyone leads busy lives these days and it's pretty easy to forget to eat properly.
"You can now just pop into the shop and pick up as many meals as you like - it's all done for you."
Variety was key to healthy eating. "Lots of people get bored cooking the same old meals, so we give people the opportunity try new ingredients and dishes that are nutritious and good for you.
"All our food is freshly prepared on the premises and the emphasis is on healthy, wholesome ingredients. Our meals range from meat and vegetable ingredients through to prawns, rice and pasta, so there is something to suit all tastes."
