Planets have aligned for indie R&B duo Jupiter Project.

The boys from New Zealand broke into the charts thanks to catchy single With You feat. Jetski Safari and are ready to make an international statement with the release of an eagerly anticipated album.

Peaking at No.6 on the Belgium charts and featuring on Germany's main electronic dance music compilation, the duo - comprising Gavin Correia and Marty Rich - recently picked up a number of international deals including with Belgium's BIP Records, Kontor Records in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, Time in Italy and Universal France.

This year has seen them writing and recording plenty of new material with fellow artists in Sydney and they also spent time "getting inspired" in America.

"You wanna embrace different artists as well to get something totally different," Correia said in an earlier interview.

"We are an electronic kinda group but we write with indie folk musicians, it adds something completely different, and that's what we want - we don't want to do the same thing all the time."

Jupiter Project isn't new to the Kiwi music scene, having played major international festivals such as Rhythm & Vines - sharing stages with the likes of Jessie J, Flume, Will.I.Am and Skrillex.

The prolific songwriters have penned top ten hits including 2013 gold single Not Alone alongside pop act Dane Rumble.

Their sound incorporates lo-fi vocals, diverse instrumentation and has drawn the attention of culture icons such as Adidas, Hypebeast and Grammy.com.

Music is inspired through many forms and is bought to life through varied channels.

"You could start with a lyric, but most of the time we start off with a beat, an instrumental and we kind of write our vocals over the top," he adds.

"You can get a lot of good ideas at really random times, you could be driving or in the shower. We always record stuff, ideas on our phones and see if an idea comes to life from that."

The lads were last in Hawke's Bay for a performance during Horse of the Year and return the night before the Bostock New Zealand Spring Racing Carnival's Livamol Classic.

Catch them at The Order of St John's in Havelock North on Friday from 8pm.
