When you're stuck up a tree and there's not a mild-mannered Clark Kent in sight, who you gonna call? And even if he was on the spot, cellphones have meant the disappearance of the superhero's changing room, the telephone box. If you'd been stuck up a tree at Cornwall Park
in Hastings yesterday you'd have had a gathering of tree experts (arborists) falling over themselves to rescue you. Twenty-month old Sam (pictured) got into the swing of things when his dad, Rick Mexted, of Auckland, took him up on the harness.
Horticultural Industry Training Organisation's regional manager, Rod Hickman said about 60 arborists from Gisborne, Wanganui, Palmerston North and Hastings attended the fun event, designed to improve their skills.
"We had about 20 competitors by the end of the day and those who didn't compete said they definitely would next year," Mr Hickman said.
