Anyone feeling a little poorly during tomorrow's Tremains Corporate Triathlon in Napier won't have to look too far for medical help.

While the St John Ambulance Service will have crews dedicated to the event, more than 120 Hawke's Bay District Health Board staff will be competing.

Event co-ordinator Mike Bond said the DHB has 41 of the 300 three-person teams which have entered, the most entered by any organisation.

The Napier City Council has slightly more than 30 teams.

The overall entry is up on last year, when the allure of an Eagles concert in Auckland is said to have been too much for many probable participants who chose a night out in the Big Smoke ahead of a day of exercise in sunny Hawke's Bay.

Consequently, just 280 teams took part in the 21st annual corporate triathlon last year, compared with 372 in 2014.

Teams have either a swimmer or kayaker, plus a runner and a cyclist.

The Hawke's Bay Today-supported triathlon starts at 10.30am with the 600m swim in Pandora Pond, followed by the kayak start, as the first of the runners embark on a 5km slog through the streets of Westshore and paths of Ahuriri Estuary, ending at a domain on The Esplanade, the start and finishing line for the 20km cycling leg which finishes the triathlon.
