Hunt still on for missing prisoner

Police are still searching for a prisoner who failed to return to Hawke's Bay Prison.

Turei Crawford is wanted for failing to return to Hawke's Bay Prison after being granted compassionate leave.

Detective Sergeant Darren Pritchard said the 23-year-old had been released on bail last Friday for a family bereavement.

Mr Crawford failed to return to the prison later that day and a warrant has now been issued for his arrest.

He is described as approximately 170cm tall and of medium build.

He is known to frequent the Napier suburb of Maraenui.
