The former home of the late television and radio broadcaster Sir Paul Holmes failed to sell at tender but there is still a lot of buyer interest.
Tenders closed early last month for the purchase of Mana Lodge, the Hawkes Bay boutique hospitality and events centre.
Mana Lodge was thesite of Sir Paul's investiture two weeks before his death in February 2013. He and Lady Deborah Holmes were also married at the property, which they bought in 2000.
Gary Wallace of Bayleys, who is marketing the property, said it is hoped a sale deal will soon be sealed.
"We have been pleased with the level of buyer interest and someone is particularly interested," he said. "It is a beautiful property which we are happy to sell at a level that would work for the trustees."
The lodge was built in 1948 as a large home on prime farmland and was once a noted horse stud.
The 440sq m, six-bedroom and three-bathroom lodge sits in 18ha of rural land and comes with a 3000-tree olive grove which has produced award-winning olive oil.
