The beauty and tranquillity of the Dannevirke Holiday Park was shattered last week by a stench which got right up the nose of the operators and visitors.
"Someone had dumped what was left over from a pig carcass which appeared to have been butchered somewhere else," Basil Durrant said.
"Thestench was unbelievable and what an impression for visitors to the park and our campers.
"The domain is a place of tranquillity and beauty and not a private offal pit."
With the putrid stench leaving visitors reeling, it was left to Infracon worker Elaine Vermeer to clean up the mess.
"It was a disgusting, messy and foul-smelling job, one she shouldn't have had to do," Mr Durrant said.
As winter approaches, the Holiday Park is quiet, Mr Durrant said.
However, tourists in campervans were still pulling in on a regular basis, with some Australians so keen on the camping grounds, they had visited three or four times.
