Temperatures are set to sit in the mid 20s, although could creep up to 28C in Hastings on Thursday, and 27C in Napier.
Hastings is expected to see 26C Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, with Napier a degree cooler at 25C.
Overnight temperatures will likely stay in the double digits, but only just, so expect some chilly mornings, although it is too warm for frosts yet.
Flynn said Hawke's Bay might still get a couple of hot days, but in general from now on the region will see a trend of colder weather as we head through autumn and into winter.
Much of the country will be seeing warm, but not hot, weather, with the exception of the eastern South Island, which was more likely to see temperatures up in the high teens or even cracking 30C.
The warm, fine weather is being caused by a high pressure system which is sitting over the country and not moving, according to Flynn.
"There's high pressure over the country which is sticking around for the week."
