Hawke's Bay highways roadworks mean lower speed limits and some delays

Drainage maintenance programmes on stretches of two Hawke's Bay highways will cause slight delays over the week as temporary speed restrictions have been put in place.

Contractors are at work at sites between Hastings and Takapau on SH50 where stop/go signalling is also in place along with reduced speed signage.

Similar restrictions have been put in place while drainage systems around Ohuka on SH38 between Wairoa and Waikaremoana are worked on.

Motorists can expect up to five minutes impact on travel times.

Contract crews are also at work on SH2 north of Napier at Nuhaka and between Putorino and Tutira, as well as around Kereru Rd on SH50, carrying out surface repairs.

Speed restrictions and stop/go signals are in place and there will be slight delays for motorists, a New Zealand Transport Agency spokesman said.

Depending on weather conditions over the next few days road marking crews may be at work along SH50 between Hastings and Takapau, and while there will be no delays in travel times motorists are being asked to drive with caution around the slow-moving roadmarking vehicles.

Roadmarking work is also scheduled to be carried out along stretches of SH2 between Bay View and Wairoa.

Motorists travelling south on SH2 between Hastings and Dannevirke can expect slight delays just outside Waipukurau due to ongoing bridge repair work at the Tukituki Bridge.

The stretch is down to one lane with a temporary traffic light system in place, along with speed restrictions.
