A stubborn low pressure system which has brought belts of heavy rain to most parts of the North Island, including Hawke's Bay, and showers to other regions may linger to create a damp start to Anzac Day.
The MetService forecast for Thursday across the Bay is cloudy with a few showers "clearing later", with easterly winds slowly dying out.
Weatherwatch tells a similar tale, forecasting morning showers on Anzac Day with temperatures around the 20C mark.
The likelihood of rain for Anzac Day morning is posted as being 40 per cent.
The one thing in the forecast's favour is that the heavy rain belts which put a dampener on Easter Monday across the Bay, and wide swathes of the Central North Island, are slowly being pushed aside by an approaching high pressure system.
But the low will continue to dampen the air for the next few days, although the end of the working week is looking good.
Cloud and periods of showers are forecast for Tuesday and Wednesday, accompanied by temperatures of around 20C.
The rain, set to ease later through Anzac Day, will disappear for Friday and Saturday — replaced by generally clear and sunny conditions with almost spring-like temperatures of around 22C to 23C in some parts of the region.
There is a chance of a light shower on Sunday but otherwise the forecast for the Bay, through to the end of the month, is for fair weather and mild temperatures.
If Mother Nature does not play ball, and conditions are too wet, the Hastings RSA will look at staging its 5.30am Dawn Service indoors at Club Hastings.
For the organisers of the Havelock North 9am Anzac Parade there is no option.
"This will take place rain or shine — so if it looks like being wet bring your brollie," was the official stance.
