NZME's Adam Green from the Hits Hawke's Bay has walked away with a bronze, after being revealed as Women's Day's third hottest radio hunk.

Adam stepped up to the podium in third place, after winner Roger Farrelly from The Rock and Gareth Pringle from More FM.

"I am pretty happy with that and it is probably my highlight of the competition. There were a fair few radio DJs involved so it is nice to get bragging rights among my peers."

Mr Green was thrown into the competition by co-host Sarah Van Der Kley as a bit of a joke one morning on their Breakfast Show.

Ms Van Der Kley sent Woman's Day a photo of him in a tutu repping a six-pack, with an email which said her co-host was disappointed he hadn't featured in the competition advertisement and maybe he was either too good looking or was left off by accident.

Ms Van Der Kley said the Woman's Day editor was impressed with the photo and told her a guy with a body like that had to be in there.

Mr Green said he was stoked with the way Hawke's Bay got behind him and showed the nation that the region could have some fun too when up against the big centres.

The competition ran for a month and people could vote once a day for their favourite radio DJ in the top 10.

During the competition, each finalist had a photoshoot published in Woman's Day last month and Mr Green said surprisingly he enjoyed the experience.

"The photographer was lovely and she did such a good job of making my somewhat dad bodish physique look pretty good so she must have known what she was doing."

Mr Green said it was a fun month and encouraged other radio DJs to get behind the competition next year if it ran again.

"It was nice to see so many people get behind my campaign and I was approached a few times out and about when at events so it was all pretty cool."

The competition ran alongside the Hits Hawke's Bay's Eight Week Challenge so has inspired Mr Green to keep fit especially after his "father's day blow out" at the weekend.

"I think after my blow it will be time to get back on the wagon again."
