A stellar bowling performance from Havelock North Cricket Club's premier men's side on Saturday saw them take a 113-run victory over Napier Technical Old Boys' Cricket Club in the penultimate weekend of the 50-over Shrimpton Cup round robin.

The big win at Anderson Park in Havelock North put the hosts on top of the table, and in pole position to enter the semifinals as the top seed.

Harry Ghodke scored 55 for Havelock North as they posted a total of 228/7 in the first innings.

Opening bowlers Bilal Ranu and Joey Field proceeded to carve through Napier Tech's top and middle order, picking up seven wickets between them inside 15 overs.

Ranu had the best day with figures of 4/26 off his 10 overs, although he was ably supported by Field (3/41 off 9) who had a weekend off Central Districts Stags duty.

The four Shrimpton Cup semifinalists have been locked in for a while now, however second-placed Central Hawke's Bay Cricket Club did themselves no favours with a big loss to struggling Taradale.

The first win of the season for the bottom-placed side came in remarkably easy fashion for the hosts at Taradale Park on Saturday as they bowled Central out for 55 runs in the 22nd over of the first innings.

Ben Stoyanoff and Brendan Quinn picked up three wickets apiece for Taradale, while Black Caps spinner Ajaz Patel showed his class with two wickets for just five runs off his four overs.

Taradale lost three wickets as they chased down the total in 12 overs.

In the round's other game, Cornwall put up a massive 377 total in the first innings to set up a 197-run victory over Napier Old Boys' Marist.

Number five batsman Liam Hall rocketed to 102 runs off just 66 balls, while there were also big scores for Graeme Tryon (92 off 77), Bailey McDonald (63 off 94) and Bayley Wiggins (49 off 41).

Josh Paerau (55) and Matthew Sinclair (50) both made half centuries for Marist as they were bowled out for 180 after 33 overs.

Cornwall's Liam Dudding blitzed through the middle and lower order to finish with figures of 5/36.

The final Shrimpton Cup round robin fixtures next Sunday see Taradale host Marist, Cornwall host Havelock North and Napier Tech host Central.
