KidsCan was the chosen charity as they are national and local.
"KidsCan usually provides healthy breakfasts and lunches to 34,000 kids every day, but with schools closed they now can't provide the same support.
"Fundraising money for them is going to help send food parcels to the most vulnerable families during lockdown; the more money raised the more kids we can help out," Tidswell said.
So far, the group has raised about $3000.
The challenge starts at 7am and will run until 7pm.
Participants will compete individually to ensure they maintain their bubble and must travel only on foot.
They have to provide evidence of the distance and will document their activity by doing at least two small video clips.
Tidswell said the students aim to travel about 40km individually and at least 440km collectively.
"The teachers have been having friendly competitive banter with us saying how they're going to absolutely thrash us, but they've got no chance," Tidswell said.
