Havelock North crash victim Megan Nation is being remembered as a "fantastic mum".

Havelock North crash victim Megan Nation is being remembered as a "fantastic mum".

The female driver who lost her life in a car crash in Havelock North this week is being remembered as a loving mum who would always go out of her way for anybody else.

Police yesterday revealed Megan Nation, a 43-year-old mother of two, was the victim of the Tauroa Rd crash, which happened about 6.30am on Monday after her vehicle went about 10m down a bank among tall trees.

Staff at Property Brokers in Hawke's Bay were yesterday still reeling from the news that they'd lost one of their workmates, remembering her as a "vivacious" friend and a "wonderful mother".

"She was a very kind, fun-loving woman, who was a fantastic mum to her two boys, and somebody we were very proud of. She will be sadly missed by the whole team," Property Brokers regional manager Paul Whitaker said.

For the past two-and-a-half years Nation had worked as a sales consultant with the company and Whitaker said her death was a tragic accident.

"It's just a big shame.

"At Property Brokers we're a big family. When it's one of your own, it hurts. And the pain is felt by everyone."

The whole Property Brokers team were devastated by Nation's death, and the company's thoughts went out to her family, Whitaker said. "Megan was a valued colleague and popular among the whole team."

Now, all her friends and whānau could do was look out for each other, he said.

Nation's two young sons attended Haumoana School and principal Liz Vanderpump said she was a valued and important member of the school community and would be missed.

Vanderpump said they were thinking of Nation's family.

A friend of Nation, who did not wish to be named, said: "She was an amazing mum and did heaps with her kids."
