Hastings woman Novia Bliss' feijoas are something special this year.

They have been twice the size as usual with the largest measuring 12.5cm.

Bliss, who owns Farmhouse Fruit & Veggies, has been growing the feijoas on a small orchard at Farmhouse Lodge in Fernhill for the last five years.

Her husband, Dawson, said the only reason he could think of for this year's large feijoas would be the great summer/autumn weather Hawke's Bay had experienced.

"Our fertiliser that was applied this season was the same as other years."
