Save Firefighters have been called to a street in Hastings.
A Hastings street has re-opened after a strong smell of gas was investigated by firefighters on Wednesday morning.
A section of Rangiora St in Mahora was briefly cordoned off as a precaution on Wednesday morning, but reopened around 10.30am.
Mahora Kindergarten and homes are located on the short street.

Fire and Emergency NZ spokeswoman said they received a report about 9.15am about the smell of gas in the area.
Police assisted with traffic management and closed part of the street.
