The developments would be a mix of one-to-four-bedroom homes that follow best practice design principles, are sustainable, had private outdoor spaces, appropriate garaging and are energy efficient.
The council has put out the call for developers with the necessary track record, experience, capability and capacity to submit formal proposals to build the houses.
The expression of interest is phase 1 of the two-phase process and detailed proposals from shortlisted developers will be called over the coming months.
When deciding who would carry out the work, emphasis will be put on selecting candidates who are committed to working in partnership with the council to meet quality and sustainability objectives, as well as supporting local upskilling and employment.
This contract opportunity was advertised on the open market via the NZ Government Electronic Tenders Service (GETS) on July 14 and Expressions of Interest close on August 11 this year.
