Hastings barrister fined for resisting arrest

Hastings barrister Sacha Beacham has been fined $400 after an intoxicated New Years eve incident in Napier last year.

Following the incident at 2.30am, police charged Beacham with resisting, obstruction, disorderly behaviour and performing an indecent act with intent to offend.

Standing in the dock representing herself, Beacham pleaded guilty to obstruction and resisting. Prosecution withdrew the remaining two charges.

Beacham opposed an in-court camera application but a judge granted permission for media to take photographs.

It is understood she has now relocated to Auckland.

Last year, Beacham was fined $1200 plus court costs and disqualified from driving for one year and one month after her third drink driving conviction.
