Two Hawke's Bay gym bunnies biked for 6 hours in gruelling head-on winds for a children's charity recently.

Merv D'sa and Monica McAulay biked from Napier to Taupo in support of New Zealand charity, Kidney Kids.

The duo, respective managers of the Hastings and Napier Jetts Fitness, pedalled the 150km journey in gusty winds.

"There was too much wind, it was hard going up those hills but you definitely felt like you achieved something when you got there," said Mr D'sa.

The pair are still collecting for the cause, and have so far raised about $800 for the charity that supports children with renal problems, and their families.
