No, you cannot drive your car through the aisles of Pak‘nSave Hastings.

But in a world where drive-throughs usually mean burger and fries pick-ups, the supermarket will soon allow shoppers to collect online orders without leaving their driving seat.

A drive-through click and collect service is being built at the supermarket, the first of its kind in Hawke’s Bay within the Foodstuffs network.

A Foodstuffs spokeswoman told Hawke’s Bay Today the new facility will let customers collect online orders from a fully covered drive-through area.

“Customers will select a preferred collection time slot. On arrival, customers can ring a buzzer or send a text to let the team know they’ve arrived.

“Staff will bring the order directly to the vehicle and load it into the boot,” the spokeswoman says.

“The process takes place under cover, ensuring a comfortable and seamless experience in all weather conditions.”

Customers will place orders through the Pak ’n Save website. The drive-through will operate from 7am to 9pm, Monday to Friday.

Construction and start dates are yet to be confirmed.

The spokeswoman said several other stores are expected to follow.

“Hastings was selected early due to the available space, and the operator’s enthusiasm for innovation in eCommerce,” she said.
