The Dannevirke Golf Club's women's team took out the Hawke's Bay Ashcott Cup competition, adding to their earlier win in the Hawke's Bay pennant competition.

Dannevirke women golfers are on fire and believe they've an achievement no other golf team in Hawke's Bay has been able to claim.

"This season we've won two Hawke's Bay competitions, the Ashcott Cup and the pennants and we're pretty sure this hasn't been done in one season before," club captain Gail Borlase said.

"It's pretty amazing."

This was Dannevirke's first win in the Ashcott Cup for 17 years and they defeated southern zone teams Porangahau, Waipukurau and Waipawa in the run-up to the final.

In the final Dannevirke played the winner of the northern zone, Te Pohue/Puketitiri.

Earlier in the season the Dannevirke women cleaned up in the Hawke's Bay pennants competition, a win which took some time coming, pennants team captain Wendy Parkes said.

In the pennants Dannevirke took their win after seven rounds on points, with a countback.
