At least four people were treated by St John Ambulance crews after a series of crashes on roads in Napier and Hastings yesterday.

None of the injuries were reported to be serious, although two men were described as having been lucky to escape with minor injuries in the first crash, when a ute and a rubbish collection truck they were in collided near the intersection of Harold Holt Ave and Henley Cres, Pirimai, just before 10am.

One of the men was taken to a medical centre for treatment, the ambulance service reported.

A 60-year-old woman with minor injuries was taken to hospital after a vehicle crash near the intersection of Hastings and Queen Sts in central Hastings, about 12.30pm, and one person was understood to have been treated at the scene on Murdoch Rd East, just before 2.30pm.
