Hawke's Bay people with something fashionably special tucked away in a drawer or hanging in the wardrobe are being invited to share their treasures and have them photographed for a national archive set up by the New Zealand Fashion Museum.
A "pop-up" fashion photography studio will be set up inthe foyer of MTG Hawke's Bay on February 1 for people to have their "something special" fashion favourites put into the archive.
They will also be given the opportunity to share any fashion stories about the items.
As an online archive of display, the New Zealand Fashion Museum works to record and share the stories of the people, objects and photographs that have contributed to the country's unique face of fashion.
The MTG visit is the latest in a series of "pop-up" photography studio outings so people throughout the country can share their individual slices of fashions with the online resource. It will be a free public event and coincides with a special screening on the same day of Fashion on Film at the Century Theatre.
The film is an hour-long compilation of historical footage that an MTG spokesperson described as likely to cause "as many laughs as gasps of wonder".
It covers the period from 1911-65, from delicate hand-painted films in the early years of cinema through to footage of parading finalists for the Hutt Valley Wool Princess in the 1960s.
To set the scene for the silent sections, a pianist will provide a soundtrack.
