There will be a focus on mental health at this years Fieldays.

NZ Young Farmers is launching a documentary on mental health in the Rural Health Hub during the National Fieldays at Mystery Creek at 11am today.

Last November the Rural Health Alliance Aotearoa NZ called for a new suicide prevention policy, specifically tailored to address suicide risk in rural men of working age following 2013 data that showed that suicide rates in rural men, aged 15-64, were higher than those of urban men.

NZ Young Farmers recently started GoodYarn farmer wellness workshops, helping participants recognise and respond appropriately to people suffering from stress or mental illness.
