Fire restriction lifted in Central Hawke's Bay

Central Hawke's Bay this week moved from a restricted to an open fire season, allowing people to light fires in the open air without a permit. However, people must still obtain a permit if the fire will be burning at night.
Authorities issued a reminder that a person lighting any open-air fire should not leave it unsupervised and must extinguish it properly.
The open fire season does not apply to Department of Conservation and Bay Forests Rural Fire District land within Central Hawke's Bay, where people still must not light fires.
