From sit-down dinners to walk up events, Summer F.A.W.C! got off to a roaring start this weekend.

Hawke's Bay Tourism general manager Annie Dundas said she had received good feedback on a number of the many events held over the weekend.

By the time Summer F.A.W.C! was launched on Friday night, around 47 of its events were sold out, with just under 90 per cent of all tickets sold.

With "not quite" half the festival's events held over the past two days, there was something for everyone.

Locals and visitors alike enjoyed events from the Hawke's Bay Insiders Art, Shopping, Wine & Food Tour, and Sotheby's Soiree with Nadia Lim on Saturday, to Bistronomy's Eat Hawke's Bay, and an Al Fresco Feast in the Olive Grove at Clearview Estate Winery on Sunday.

On the first full day of F.A.W.C! nearly 250 people enjoyed the sun with a glass of craft beer in hand at the Marine Parade Brews with B.A.D. & DC BBQ on Saturday afternoon.

The soundshell area was taken over by five local brewers pouring old favourites and one-off botanically themed brews crafted exclusively for the event, matched with mouth-watering dishes from the Design Cuisine smoking grill.

Design Cuisine owner and operator Andrew Popplewell said the afternoon had been a great experience. His smoked pulled-pork sliders proved to be a crowd favourite, closely followed by the sold-out chicken hot wings.

This had been Mr Popplewell's first F.A.W.C! event, held in collaboration with his cousin Jim Popplewell - organiser of the annual Beer Appreciation Day event.

"It was a beautiful day, everyone was sitting around the soundshell drinking craft beer and enjoying the food," he said.

Over the road, records were broken with the 700 people who enjoyed the Electrolux Masterclass Series at the MTG Century Theatre on Saturday the highest amount in the events history.

Ms Dundas said other weekend highlights included a barbecue with Josh Emett, held in Te Awanga, and the Sacred Chardonnay, Pacifica & Friends event at Napier's Pacifica restaurant with Sacred Hill Winery.

With more events over the next week to look forward to, Ms Dundas said organisers were pretty happy with where the event was going.
