The death will be referred to the coroner.

Police have confirmed the death of a person three days after a water-related incident at a home in a Napier suburb.

Emergency services were called to a residential address in Onekawa’s Morris Spence Ave on February 17, about 3pm, after reports of a person being unresponsive.

A Hato Hone St John spokesman said a person was taken to Hawke’s Bay Hospital in a critical condition.

Their age and gender has not been released by authorities.

A police spokesman confirmed on Wednesday the person had died on February 20.
