UPDATED: A 77-year-old woman has been killed in a crash between a car and van in Pakowhai Road, Hastings this morning.
Police said the collision occurred at the corner of Richmond Rd and Pakowhai Rd at 10.15am. The serious crash unit is there.
The woman killed was the driver of
the car, police said. An investigation is underway and the woman's next of kin still have to be informed. The female driver of the van has been taken to Hawke's Bay Hospital with a leg injury.
Pakowhai Road is currently closed between Elwood Road and Evenden Road, while Richmond Road will also be closed from outside Watties to Pakowhai Road.
The road was closed for some hours but has since re-opened.
