Southbound traffic through central Waipukurau will be detoured while work continues on the construction of a roundabout at the SH2, Ruataniwha St and Herbert St intersection.
However, the site will remain open to all other traffic but under controlled conditions.
A New Zealand Transport Agency spokesperson said motorists were advisedto avoid travelling through the site if possible and that delays could be expected.
On SH2 north minor maintenance work is under way between Whirinaki and Putorino and in the Morere area with only "very minor" delays expected.
Motorists can also expect minor delays as guardrail installation takes place at the Mohaka Rail Viaduct near Raupunga. Guardrail installation is also being carried out on the Tutaekuri River Bridge between Awatoto and Clive.
On SH5 between Napier and Taupo minor delays can be expected at various works sites scattered between Eskdale and Tarawera. Minor delays are also likely as road widening work is carried out at Glencoe Gorge on SH50 about 10km south of Maraekakaho.
Longer delays can be expected at certain times as the felling of large poplar trees continues beside the Hawke's Bay Expressway between the Tutaekuri River Bridge and the Pakowhai Rd intersection.
Tree felling has been limited to the period between 9am and 3pm to avoid disrupting peak-hour traffic.
