The first NCEA exams started yesterday

The first NCEA exams started yesterday, as more than 143,000 students sit level 1, 2 and 3 end-of-year examinations over the next few weeks.

St John's College principal Neal Swindells said the first big test yesterday was level 1 English, with about 90 students sitting the exam. "It all went well, with no problems. We had a couple of boys sitting scholarship this morning as well and they said that was really good, after talking to one of them."

Students around the country yesterday also sat level 2 German and economics, level 3 Samoan and Te Reo Maori, and scholarship statistics and art history.

Today nervous students will sit level 1 German and accounting, level 2 English and Latin, level 3 Spanish and biology, and scholarship English.
