There will be a detour via the expressway and Prebensen Drive as usual, however motorists are advised that at times during the event there will slow moving cyclists on the highway, Mr Postings said.
"This will be no more evident than at the Prebensen Drive/ Expressway roundabout, where drivers are advised to expect delays at certain times of the morning. Please be patient at the roundabout and the approaches," he said.
Motorists travelling through Hawke's Bay can expect other slight delays as the NZTA heads into its main construction season.
"People will see crews on the network continuing with their pre-sealing repairs."
Work is being carried out at various sites on the expressway SH2B and SH50, SH2 between Hastings and Dannevirke and SH5 between Napier and Taupo.
Pre-seal repairs are also being carried out on SH2 north to Wairoa.
Mr Postings said delays would be minimal with the impact on travel times expected to be around five minutes.
