A house fire in Hastings is being treated as deliberate after the empty building caught fire.

Firefighters were called to the scene on Kauri Pl in Hastings at around 11.15am on Sunday with two fire trucks attending the scene, one from Napier and the other from Hastings.

The empty building was well involved on arrival but the blaze was brought under control within a matter of minutes.

Firefighters called police to the scene who were making further enquires and were investigating alongside.
