School is already out for some and with exams over it's time to relax.
Parties are planned and no matter how hard parents try to warn teenagers off alcohol, some of them are going to try it.
Actually, let's be honest, most of them are going to try it, eventhe quieter ones who are sometimes called goody two-shoes, because just one glass of wine or a bottle of RTD (ready to drink) can give them the confidence to mix and mingle.
So parents, it's your job to teach your children about the consequences of drinking so much that they have no control over their bodies.
If that means showing them the videos posted online at the beginning of the month by school boys taking advantage of girls they had purposely got drunk for that very reason, then do so.
Police let the boys off with warnings. The young women were not so lucky, they have to live with the consequences of having lewd pictures of themselves posted on social media.
Young people are going to drink no matter what "the oldies" say, so it's imperative that young teenagers, especially girls, understand what can happen to them when they allow others to take control. Talk to your daughters, granddaughters, nieces, aunts, cousins, any young girl you think could put herself in a compromising position and show her the photos. The ones in question have most likely long gone, although who knows how many people copied them and when they will surface.
But don't worry there are plenty of videos online of drunk people making fools of themselves. Some are funny, the ones I'm talking about are not.
