It has been just over a week since Hawke's Bay Today became a morning paper and things are going well. The switch from an afternoon paper has gone remarkably smoothly.

It has been a magnificent effort by many people and we are working hard to iron out any little problems to bring you your new quality morning newspaper, still crammed full of all the local news, sport and opinion you love.

The stars of the show have been our hardworking circulation manager Robert Cimino and his team of office staff, drivers and runners, who have adapted to the change so well and are making sure that you get your papers.

"It was an outstanding effort by our drivers and runners in the switch to morning deliveries, especially in the face of the weather bomb early last week. It is a dramatic change for those involved and they coped magnificently," he said

"We have had to make a few tweaks to our system to overcome some teething troubles which is to be expected and we are now on track with our deliveries operating as they should be."

Hawke's Bay Today's general manager Russell Broughton was equally upbeat and wanted to thank the readers for their patience while a few minor issues were sorted out.

"It is going well and getting better every day."

"I would also like to thank all the staff for their hard work. We could not have done it without the dedicated team we have."

As the new editor of the paper, I can only echo that.

We hope you are enjoying your newspaper. We certainly are enjoying producing it for you and we have many more exciting features in store for you.

We remain committed to providing you with all the local content you love. We have also added to our stable of columnists and we have harnessed the resources we have within the APN group of newspapers to provide you with the best national news and sport.

For those of you who like a cup of coffee with your morning paper, keep an eye out over the coming weeks for more changes to get free coffee and a reusable Hawke's Bay Today cup.
