For families on the breadline this is the best thing since sliced bread.
It's about time they got a break.
For some children this will be the difference between having something to eat and going hungry.
I've read reports that since the cut-price bread was introduced some teachers have noticed children who normally don't bring lunch are now taking sandwiches to school.
That is fantastic news.
I've also heard that the bread doesn't taste that great.
It probably doesn't but it's better than going hungry.
I bet the children who get to have lunch now aren't complaining about the taste.
We all know that good-quality wholegrain bread is the better option but unfortunately even though bread is a staple food not everyone can afford the more expensive loaves.
Now the next challenge for supermarkets is to make milk cheaper than fizzy ...
I won't hold my breath.
