There will always be some people who go looking for trouble and some will find it, while others are just in the wrong place at the wrong time - as Miss Hickey was.
Thirsty Whale owner Chris Sullivan had no knowledge of the incident that Miss Hickey claims took place on the bar's deck.
He said Miss Hickey should have informed bar staff or the police - which she did not.
Mr Sullivan even suggested Miss Hickey was "attention-seeking".
I don't know if the attack did or did not happen. Either way, I agree with Labour MP Stuart Nash who said it was not a good look for the region.

I don't frequent the bars along Ahuriri at witching hour very often but the times I have done so I have always felt safe.
